Indie rockers To Kill A King showcase their new direction on a twelve date UK tour in support of their third album, The Spiritual Dark Age.

Formed in Leeds back in 2009, the band are well known for their dark and philosophical lyrics and have previously cited Beat generation writers such as Allen Ginsberg as their influences. They met and began writing music while studying at university, and released their first single ‘Fictional State’ in 2011. Originally signed to Communion Records, their early sound and penchant for the odd Shakespeare reference is reminiscent of fellow record label artist Mumford and Sons. However, their distinctly sombre and prog rock tendencies have also led to comparisons to The National and Frightened Rabbit.

Since their 2013 debut album, Cannibals With Cutlery, they have embarked on numerous tours, playing in some of the most intimate and imaginative spaces including the Elbtunnel in Hamburg. Combining rock and folk, their latest album see the band plug in and go fully electric which has been accompanied by a series of striking neon cover art. From the sound of their infectiously catchy lead single ‘The Unspeakable Crimes of Peter Popoff’ –  epic guitar solo included – this tour is set to be their most energetic yet.
