With a well-established reputation for throwing some of the best parties in Leeds, Brotherhood made their return to Wire 25th December for their last event of the calendar year.
The line up promised a night of heavy grooves and fantastic selection. Stamp The Wax co-founder and Worldwide FM programmer Aaron L made his Leeds debut, kicking the night off in style and getting the whole place moving. Transitioning seamlessly between upbeat funky house and atmospheric techno numbers like O.B. Ignitt’s “Oh Jabba”, hands were in the air by the time he finished his set off with the huge “Hate” by E. Myers.
By this stage, the scene was perfectly set for the headliners, kiwi brothers Louis and Ben Helliker-Hales, better known as Chaos in the CBD. After a slew of critically acclaimed releases on Rhythm Section and In Dust We Trust and a packed summer on the festival circuit, the excitement for their set was palpable. The boys hit the ground running, keeping the energy high with vocal heavy house numbers and bouncy upbeat garage. Their mixing was flawless, and their warm and sunny selections provided a welcome escape from the bitter cold up out on the street. There was plenty of evidence of the brothers’ tireless record digging, but the Sacred Rhythm remix of Roland Clark and Joe Clausells “Simple Things” was a real standout tune.
Whilst it was sad to see the boys round things up at 3, Brotherhood resident Tami confidently took the reigns. She went straight in with a killer remix of Zed Bias’ classic “Neighborhood” and kept the crowd dancing through to the end of the night.
Brotherhood continue to put on great events and anticipation is through the roof for their first event of 2018 when they’ll be bringing Jayda G and Anu to Wire. Tickets are on sale now so act fast because it’s guaranteed to be incredible!
