What you might recall as a classic myth of Achilles and Patroclus battling in the Trojan War will become infinitely more precious. Even the most dry-eyed readers will not be able to keep from abject sobbing. ‘Name one hero who was happy’ – you won’t be either. You might think it impossible to be both miserable and content, but it truly is. If you’re not fond of a tenderly exquisite relationship gently built by incredible lexis and imagery, then you’re wrong. Or rather, you’ll be swiftly persuaded a couple of pages in.
