On Wednesday night, Limit UK continued Wire’s tradition of bringing some of the best local and international electronic artists into the heart of Leeds. Transforming the club into a spooky spectacle, Limit returned to Wire with a bang. Having only started in November 2015, Limit are still growing, but they are already securing some of the hottest names in the world of underground dance music, and Wednesday was no exception.
Already well into his ‘Umami’ release tour, French DJ Folamour has been spreading his chilled disco-house grooves onto dancefloors all over France and the UK for the last month. This is not to say that Folamour is new to the world of house music by any stretch of the imagination. In 2014 he and a few mates set up ‘Moonrise Hill Material’, a new record label intent on protecting “the preciousness of every musical journey”, and on Wednesday at Wire the intimate basement venue was taken on precisely that journey.
Alongside him was Dutch-born electronic artist Fritz Wentink, sometimes known as Urkelle or Felix Lenferink, who continued the surprisingly disco vibe of the night after Folamour had finished his set. Transitioning into his signature synth-heavy and infectiously percussive beats as the night went on, Wentink kept the cosy venue partying well into the night.
With the help of Primal Sounds’s Douglas, and their very own Rowland and Mezla, Limit put on a party to remember, and we can’t wait to welcome them back to Leeds for another boogie.
