Single Review: Need You The Most by Heir

It’s safe to say Heir are fast becoming the masters of creating infectious, glossy pop particularly within the Leeds music scene. Having supported Olly Murs over summer and winning the Futuresound Ones To Watch competition earlier this year leading to the 5-piece band playing at both Reading and Leeds Festivals, their new single ‘Need You The Most’ just shows that they’re not about to slow down anytime soon.

Bursting with hazy synths and crisp drums this song gives off summery vibes that are perfect to pick your spirits back up as winter is on its way. To say the hooks throughout the song are infectious would be an understatement too, they’re the kind that make it impossible to not want to stop and dance wherever you are.

Unintentionally brimming with nostalgia, eighties pop has had a 2017 makeover for this single but it still feels as current and fresh as was intended with frontman, Tom Hammond’s powerful vocals carrying the song as the catchy lyrics explore the heart-stopping moments of falling for someone.

After the success of their previous singles, ‘I’ll Pick You Up’ and ‘Be Somebody’ these Leeds College of Music alumni are showing the world that their education was not in vain. Complete with assured production and invigorating musicality, Heir are perfecting their distinctive style that’s standing out in a scene that’s overflowing with indie-pop.
