Leeds University Union is preparing to be transformed into the most terrifying event space in the city this Halloween, with the Living Dead Halloween Festival descending on Lifton Place for one night only on the 31st of October. With the event’s Facebook page promising “live actors, terrifying performers, haunting production” and five arenas, each to upgrade the event from a typical night at Fruity, a spooky and frightening immersive experience seems certain.

Stylus becomes the ‘Land of the Dead’, with Fruity vs. Mischief DJs playing a selection of guilty pleasures the 80s, 90s and current charts. P.A.R.T.Y. are bringing the House & Disco vibes to Terrace, in addition to Pyramid’s ‘Torture Chamber’ filled with the sickest Hip-Hop and R&B beats, and Function’s ‘Forgotten Land’ delivering another healthy dose of feel-good disco. If grinding on rugby boys dressed as Homer Simpson, pumpkins or ghosts (i.e. with a sheet from halls draped over yet another white t-shirt and checked shirt combo) gets old, be sure to check out an alternative scene over at the Pyramid Theatre, where horror films will be playing non-stop all night. Nothing screams crazy night-out quite like Carrie being pelted with red paint at her high school prom.

 

Just think of it as Fruity but bigger and better, every fit person usually in attendance looking even more attractive thanks to Black Swan-esque makeup courtesy of five hours spent watching YouTube tutorials. Whether you wake up on the 1st of November in a random house in Hyde Park, preparing to walk home in a fully-fledged pirate regalia costume or covered in fake blood, or simply in your own bed with the room spinning around you and no memory of how you got home, ensure that you’ll be doing either after a night at the most exciting Halloween event Leeds has to offer.
