Courtney Boyle, a Criminology and Psychology student at Leeds Beckett University, has been reported missing with her stepfather after the terror attack at Manchester Arena last night which left 22 dead.

Courtney, originally from Tyne and Wear, has not been heard from since the concert finished, and her mother has travelled to Manchester to search for the girl and her partner.

A large crowd gathered outside Leeds University Union at 1pm to pay their respects to those affected by the horrific attack.

The short vigil included words and prayer led by a member of the university chaplaincy, as well as a minute’s silence.

It is believed the attacker detonated an improvised bombing device in the foyer of Manchester Arena as concert goers were leaving the Ariana Grande performance that had finished moments earlier.

Many children are feared to be among the 22 confirmed deaths, and 59 injured are being treated in eight different hospitals around the city.

8-year-old Saffie Rose Roussos and 18-year-old student Georgina Callendar are two of the confirmed victims who lost their lives.

There has been an outpouring of grief and solidarity from around the world for those affected by the attacks, with Ariana Grande tweeting “broken. from the bottom of my heart, i am so so sorry. i don’t have words”.

Campaigning in the general election has been suspended for the day, with all parties coming together to condemn the callous attack, which the so-called Islamic State has claimed responsibility for.

Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham said the city would “pull together” as “that’s what we are. That’s what we do. They won’t win.”
