To celebrate their last festival, Secret Garden Party are putting on quite a shindig. Booking only the best for their loyal punters, they’ve well and truly smashed the line-up this year. So, from knock-out headliners and to the gems in the rough, here’s The Gryphon’s top 5 acts to see at Secret Garden Party 2017 so we all go out with a bang.

1) Toots & The Maytals

How could you pass up the opportunity to see reggae legends Toots & The Maytals live? Playing since 1962, you better catch them before it’s too late. With such classics as ‘Pressure Drop’, ’54-46 Was My Number’ and ‘Monkey Man’, they’re guaranteed to have you dancing through the night. Toots & The Maytals stand out from the other headliners not only as a well-established band, but an institution of music. It would simply be rude not to.

2) Wild Beasts

Fresh from our very own Live At Leeds 2017, these northern lads are going to be bringing the party to Secret Garden Party. After their fresh synth pop sound on recent release Boy King, Wild Beasts are determined to be the ‘Big Cat’ of SGP. So to all the ‘Alpha Females’ and ‘Tough Guys’ out there, you too can Get Your Bang on the ‘Dreamliner’ that is bound to be Wild Beasts’ set. ‘Eat Your Heart Out Adonis’.

3) Bonzai

Bonzai is everything you could ever hope for. She’s most known for her hit collaboration with Mura Masa, ‘What If I Go?’, and is set to appear on his next album. Her own tunes are merit enough, however. Recent single ‘I Did’ merges bold and unapologetic bars with bombastic synth lines and a colourful chorus. Make sure you see her now so you can say you were there from the beginning.

4) Let’s Eat Grandma

Astonishingly, Rosa Walton and Jenny Hollingworth, who make up the duo Let’s Eat Grandma, are still under 20 and making some of the most exciting music on the scene today. They met in nursery and have stuck tight ever since. Their hometown of Norwich plays a huge role in their songwriting: ‘Eat Shiitake Mushrooms’ is inspired by some graffiti in the city, and ‘Deep Six Textbook’ is about bunking off school together. Live, their set mixes music and performance art, at once baffling and enticing. Don’t miss out.

5) Peaches

Last but most certainly not least, Peaches is a must-see. Peaches mixes electro pop and fantastically dirty lyrics to continually subvert gender and beauty norms. ‘Fuck The Pain Away’ resists all attempts to tell girls that they must be “ladylike”, and ‘Talk To Me’ screams loudly for some sort of recognition. Gloriously self-referrential throughout her songs, she will surely put on the best of shows.
