Winged eyeliner and red lips

Play it safe with this classic look that we all know and love. Use Kat Von D’s Tattoo Liner to achieve a really precise cat eye, and pair the look with a heavy contour and red lips. Remember to use a red lipliner for extra precision and to prevent the lipstick from bleeding, MAC’s Brick lipliner and Russian Red lipstick are the perfect combination and won’t budge all night (no matter how many shots you have).

Glam glitter cut crease

Go all out with your make-up with a super glam glittery cut crease – it is New Year’s Eve after all, what better excuse to get out the glitter? Blend a neutral colour through the crease, darkening it up closer to the lid before cleaning up the line with concealer. Then press loose glitter or a pigment on top of the concealer – if you’re worried about fall-out then hold a piece of tissue underneath your eye as you apply. With such a statement on the eyes, keep the lips simple with a nude lipstick or lipgloss, and finish the look off with some Eyelure false eyelashes.

Muted eyes and glitter lips

Another look including glitter, but this time on the lips instead of the eyes. This trend has taken the catwalks by storm and NYE is the perfect opportunity to try it out for yourself. Buy a glitter lipstick or make your own by applying Vaseline to your lips and then simply press loose glitter on top. We can’t guarantee that it’ll stay on your lips all night, but it’s definitely worth a try. With this look do the opposite to the last look, and make the eyes more muted as the lips are so bold – a brown and gold smokey eye would look amazing.

Burgundy and gold

If you still want to look glam but don’t want to attempt a cut crease – merely use the same technique without making the crease precise. Start with a light transition shade and blend through the crease, and gradually make it darker with warm burgundy shades – such as from the Anastasia Beverly Hills Modern Renaissance palette. Finish by placing a gold shimmery colour all over the lid, and then apply winged liner and false eyelashes. Finish by wearing a burgundy lipstick to match the look – NYX matte lip cream in Copenhagen has amazing staying power.
