Students who’ve decided to stay in Leeds over the festive period should be excited to see in the New Year with two Canal Mills events showcasing some of the biggest names in dance music.
The former textiles mill kicks off the party on New Year’s Eve with some fine house selections from MK. The master of longevity shows no signs of stopping after a successful 2016 with hands-in-the-air anthems such as ‘Piece of Me‘ and ‘My Love 4 U‘. Joining the line-up and returning to Canal Mills after his last appearance in April is Shadow Child – a man well known for mixing the sounds of bass house, rave and hard core. The party continues with GotSome, who has gained some serious airtime on weekend Radio 1 over the past couple of years including for his collab with Wiley.
The celebrations go more underground on New Year’s Day with genre-defying Modeselektor, marking the German duo’s first appearance in Leeds since last playing several years ago. They’ll be joined by Chicago’s The Black Madonna, who’s rapidly built up a dedicated following and is probably the most talked-about breakthrough DJ of 2016. As if this isn’t enough world-renowned selectors for one weekend, Motor City Drum Ensemble also joins the bill, a man whose infectious enthusiasm behind the decks will no doubt elate the crowd below. The cherry on top of this showstopper line-up is Floating Points, a firm Canal Mills favourite.
Tickets are currently on final release for NYE and third release for NYD. Get them right here.
