Liam Gallagher rumoured to be confirming solo shows

March 28th 2017, save the date.

After forcefully ruling out the prospect of going it alone, Liam Gallagher is eating his words and returning to the stage for a solo performance in the name of charity. According to Music Week, charity Youth Music have reportedly booked Gallagher to play at London’s Bush Hall as part of their Give A Gig fundraising week. He’ll join a stellar bill that includes Plan B, Jess Glynne and Tom Odell as the charity aim to reach their target of 100 gigs between 24th and 31st March next year.

Following the demise of Beady Eye in 2014, the younger Gallagher has been in Noel’s shadow on both a commercial and critical level. The infamous tension may finally be easing as Liam appears to be following his brother’s advice to “put his balls on the line, put his name up in lights and go for it.”

The gig will hopefully see Gallagher showcase his new solo album which is set for release next year on major label Warner Bros. Supersonic Director Mat Whitecross has reported that the record is “epic.” Apparently, it sounds kinda like Velvet Underground. Here’s hoping that Liam’s solo show won’t simply be a lukewarm tribute to his former band.

Whether his solo effort will truly be ‘epic’ remains to be seen but Liam Gallagher’s return to the live circuit is an exciting prospect. He’s made no secret of his love for being in a band and who knows, that big reunion may still be on the cards.
