Sam Baker, the L.A. based artist also known as Samiyam, is renowned for his pioneering instrumental hip-hop beats, synths and samples. Going way back as one of the first artists to be produced by FlyLo’s Brainfeeder label, Baker boasts collaborations and liaisons with some of the biggest and best names in the experimental hip-hop world throughout his career thus far (think Gaslamp Killer, Shigeto and Joey Bada$$). Headrow House has the honour and privilege of hosting Samiyam next Thursday in the wake of his most recent release Animals Have Feelings, his debut with Stones Throw Records. The record is his characteristic array of instrumental hip-hop with a smattering of rap tracks with some carefully selected collaborators, and is said to be a creative sequel to 2008’s Rap Beats Vol. 1. Taking full control of the decks, mic and channel mixer, Baker is going to own the night and it will be a treat for sure.
