Next week, Church has pulled out all the stops for one of Leeds’ most exciting guests of the year so far: Fatboy Slim. World-renowned for classic hits like ‘Praise You’ and ‘The Rockafeller Skank’, this night is sure to be fuelled by the tangible energy which is a given when it comes to this big beat legend.
Joint owners of Church, Dave Beer, responsible for Back to Basics, and Aaron Mellor of Tokyo Industries, are pushing for the best musicians and DJs to play at this breathtaking space, and have hit the jackpot with one of the world’s most established electronic artists. Fatboy Slim explains, “It all started very late one night whilst I was DJing at the Rabbit Hole at Glastonbury this summer. It was very noisy and Dave Beer can be a difficult man to understand when he is overexcited and all I could make out was ‘my new club… in old church… Peter Hook….wanna play?’ He had me at Dave Beer…”
Claimed “a true master of invention” by Beer, the mastermind behind an extensive list of projects, ranging from The Housemartins to The Mighty Dub Katz, is expected to bring his signature and much-loved repertoire along with a unique mix of house edits that you will struggle to find anywhere else. From the House of Commons to the 2012 Olympics Closing Ceremony, Fatboy Slim has by no means a limited track record, and experiencing his live show in a more intimate and local venue will undoubtedly be an unforgettable night.
Fatboy Slim hits Church Leeds on Saturday 19th November. Final tickets here.
