ONLINE EXCLUSIVE: Halloween Style Guide

Hurray Halloween weekend is finally here, here’s to the girls who love any excuse to go shopping, especially if it involves a good vamp lip and gothic black dress…

 MOD LEOPARD

Everybody’s back up plan is the classic sexy black cat but it’s a cliché. Mix it up this year by being a leopard. This leopard print number from ASOS is a Halloween look that’s less sexy-bodycon-discomfort and more “I just threw this on as I’m cool girl”. Add some Chelsea boots to keep the 60s mod vibes, some low maintenance cat ears and when people ask if you’ve come as a cat reply that you didn’t even know it was a dress up party.

DAY OF THE DEAD

Ever since Lana Del Rey wore a flower crown in that Born to Die music video, the world has gone gaga for flower crowns. Five years later The Day of the Dead costume is a perfect excuse to wear one again. This costume is one for the more enthusiastic of Halloween party-goers, as it require some creative skull face makeup, teamed with a new lacy LBD (Go on treat yo’self – the Little Black Dress will see you through all last minute uni parties) and this dark rose flower head band from New Look you’ll be pretty and spooky all at once.

SUICIDE SQUAD’S HARLEY QUINN

Easily the most popular look this year, Harley Quinn has won over the hearts of everybody with her hot pants, her dip dye and her psycho-attitude. What’s even better? The bomber jacket is an IT jacket this season and it will keep you toasty all night in those harsh October winds. Just add face tattoos, your favourite choker and refer to everybody as Puddin’.

LADY VAMP

Want the perfect excuse to buy a new party dress? Go as a vampire. This is also great for the girls who like to dress up but not in fancy dress. Velvet is a key fabric this autumn, so get started on your collection early with this vampy velvet navy dress from Missguided but any sultry LBD will do! Be sure to smudge some blood on the corner of your mouth and it’s finally acceptable to wear that lipstick that looked a bit too dark when you put it on. Release your inner dark side and keep a mirror handy to check your teeth for lippy (and of course, blood).
