It’s October and we’ve waved bye bye to summer and hello to Autumn.
But with shorter days comes longer nights, and we all know what that means. Here’s a selection of the DJs to watch out for this month across the city and a flavour of the music to expect.
Bondax (Bondax & Friends)
The boys from Lancashire bring their singalongable poppy dance music to Canal Mills on 7th October. Hands in the air, fist-pumping and big groups of girls mouthing the lyrics to their anthems across the dancefloor – all inevitable at this one.
Hidden Spheres (Sonic Sahara Present: Rhythm Section)
Rhythm Section artist Hidden Spheres hits the wonderful Studio 24 also on 7th October with label boss Bradley Zero. Expect an unconventional yet classy set with hints of jazz and delightfully varied percussion to bust a move to.
Fort Romeau (PBR Presents Lost Property)
Master of melody Fort Romeau brings his Chicago-house infused sounds to Wire on 22nd October in his Leeds debut. The dark and smoky surroundings should be a mystical backdrop for losing yourself in his dreamy music.
Space Dimension Controller (Brotherhood Halloween Warehouse Party)
SDC describes his own sound as ‘Galactic Funk’ – a term as unique as the music he produces. You’ll be taken to another dimension with bleeping techno bass lines, deep spacey vocal sampling and infectiously funky beats. There’s supposed to be lasers at Freedom Mills too so you can actually pretend you’re in outer space using a lightsaber.
Will Saul (Flux Halloween Party)
Aus Music head honcho Will Saul graces the decks of Flux on Halloween Monday. Pounding deep house lovers are in for a treat, but the basement of Beaver Works might inspire him to take things darker and heavier….
