Chart – Editor’s Top Tracks of Summer

Chaos in the CBD – Significant Others (Rhythm Section International)
From the south London pair’s downtempo ‘Invisible Spectrum’ EP which follows their breakthrough ‘Midnight in Peckham’ released one year ago on Rhythm Section International. Have a seat and wind down to this masterfully percussive and soothing track.

LauerTearsh (Live at Robert Johnson)
Lauer and Live at Robert Johnson combine Frankfurt forces in the producer’s first solo release on the label since 2011. An EP with its lighter and heavier moments, attention-grabbing synths and 80s disco grooves, you’ll want to get out of your chair for this one. Here’s the gentle opener to ease you in.

Pional – The Way That You Like (Counter Records)
As the Madrid producer gears up to release his next EP at the end of the month on Counter Records, this track gives us a taste of what to expect. The record will see Pional incorporate soulful pop vocals conveying love and loss throughout, adding another dimension to his recognisable deep and moody electronics. Empress Of provides the vocals on this one, a track with real depth and meaning.

ChymeraEpisode (Cocoon Recordings)
The title track from the Irish-born Berlin-based producer’s latest release is a staggeringly emotive piece of techno to get pulses racing. Built around a relatively simple ascending melodic hook, the progressive journey you’re taken on in its nine minutes becomes astounding.

EliphinoIsabella Road (Joy in Repitition)
Eliphino is back with his first EP in three years after a move to Berlin and a bit of self-reflection. He’s just launched his own label Joy in Repetition with Andy Lemay of Dimensions, and this is the label’s first release. The title track grows in intensity and you bet you’ll hear it late at night on the dancefloors of Leeds this Autumn.
