For any students returning to Leeds this September, Mint Fest marks the arrival of Freshers’ Week ahead of a new year of clubbing, and obviously studying, in the party capital of the North. As a way of celebrating the festival’s 5th birthday, Hot Creations producer Patrick Topping is performing his version of the Otley Run, travelling around the city in an Elrow styled VW camper van, swapping pints for house bangers while stopping off at five secret venues from Headingley to Leeds city centre.
Over the past five years the Mint brand has truly spearheaded Leeds’ house and techno scene, with the best DJs from around the world regularly playing at Mint events across the city, including the yearly festival. This year’s Mint Fest plays host to Jamie Jones, Loco Dice, Hot Since 82, Adam Beyer, Eats Everything and Ibiza favourite Patrick Topping, who can all be found at Mint Fest’s new home, The Tetley.
For the second year running, Elrow will be present at the festival, wowing ravers with psychedelic mayhem as stilted circus acts play havoc overhead to the sounds of tech-house. Patrick Topping and Elrow have been a match made in hippy heaven following his Elrow residency at Space Ibiza and the pair will unite once again for Topping’s ‘Alternative Otley Run’ which is taking place on Monday 19th September.
Commencing somewhere within our very own university grounds, then venturing to Headingley and Hyde Park, the whole event will be filmed and streamed by Chew.TV and fans should follow the shenanigans on social media with the #topplyrun and #mintfest hashtags to join the party along the way.
Topping’s Timetable:
1pm – Headingley
1.45pm – Headingley
2.15pm – Headingley
4.15pm – Hyde Park
6.30pm – Mint Club
