Preview : UNITED VIBRATIONS + Indecent Gorilla @ Headrow House Thursday 14th April

On the 14th April United Vibrations will be coming down to Headrow House to launch their new album with their acclaimed brand of cosmic jazz meets afrobeat/12 tone/global grooves fusion. Made up of the three Dayes brothers – Ahmad (trombone), Kareem (electric bass), Yussef (drums) plus Wayne Francis (tenor sax) their unique sound takes influences from such diverse groups as Sun Ra, Pharoah Sanders, Fela Kuti, Mulatu of Ehtiopia and punk rock (in attitude rather than musical style).

Their latest album “The Myth of the Golden Ratio” is out now on San Francisco soul/jazz/beats label Ubiquity Records and has been getting great responses. Gilles Peterson said “They (United Vibrations) were at the front of the new generation of South Londoners making really great music. United Vibrations, Brixton originals, are back with The Myth of the Golden Ratio, and it’s good to hear the vocals on the track ‘I Am We’.”

Support on the night comes from young rising stars of the vibrant Leeds leftfield jazz/neo-soul/live hip-hop scene and musical mavericks themselves, Indecent Gorilla. The trio cite Snarky Puppy, Dilla, D’Angelo, Flying Lotus, The Roots and Thundercat as influences, and their loud jazz meets beats combination has won them love from audiences outside the usual jazz circles.

If you want to catch this great night of live music, tickets are £8 advance from Jumbo Records (www.jumborecords.co.uk) and Crash Records (www.crashrecords.co.uk), £9/£8 students on the door.
