Officers from Leeds Anti-Social Behaviour Team (LASBT) visited the 6 bed house on Richmond Mount earlier this week, and removed two televisions, computer gaming equipment and four sets of speakers. The visit followed a number of complaints from neighbours regarding loud music and parties.

Councilor Mark Dobson, Leeds City Council’s executive board member, who has responsibility for Safer Leeds, said: “Noise nuisance is a real blight in our communities, and we will not hesitate to use all the powers at our disposal to put a stop to it immediately.

“Unfortunately the residents at this particular property did not listen to our warnings to keep the noise down to an appropriate level, which is why a decision was taken to obtain a warrant of entry through the courts and seize noise equipment such as televisions, game consoles and speakers at the property.

“I hope this action by LASBT will serve as a warning to any other individual participating in noise nuisance that it will not be ignored and they will face tough consequences if they continue with this type of behaviour.”

The occupants at Richmond Mount now have to wait 28 days before they can apply to obtain their possessions back, but must pay costs. Any further noise complaints filed after this may see the tenants face criminal prosecution.
