Police seeking witnesses after man seriously assaulted in Union

West Yorkshire Police are appealing for witnesses after a man was seriously assaulted at a heavy metal band gig in Leeds University Union last month.

The victim, a 25-year old man, was attacked in Stylus at around 9:40pm on 26th February while watching a performance by the band Baroness, and suffered a fractured eye socket. He was hit after asking a man to stop deliberately bumping into people on the dance floor, and was left requiring two metal plates to be fitted.

West Yorkshire Police have described the assailant as “white, about 6ft 2ins to 6ft 4ins tall, medium build, with a shaved head. He was aged in his mid-twenties to mid-thirties and was wearing a checked shirt.

“Clearly the CCTV image is low quality but we hope that along with the description and the circumstances that someone will recognise him. We would like to hear from anyone who knows someone fitting that description who was at the Baroness gig that night.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact PC 6642 Guibert at Elland Road via 101 quoting crime number 13160092087 or call the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
