West Yorkshire Police have confirmed that a murder investigation has been launched following the discovery of a body in Hyde Park.
Both Police and Fire Services were informed of a small fire involving a rubbish bin at approximately 7pm on Saturday evening. The authorities attended the scene and discovered a body.
In a statement on their website, West Yorkshire Police said: “The body is not yet known to be that of a male or female, but was found close to Wrangthorn Church Hall by fire service personnel”

“Two men, aged 37 and 50, from the Leeds area have been arrested on suspicion of murder and remain in custody this evening”
Detective Superintendent Simon Atkinson, of the Homicide and Major Enquiries Team, said: “Enquiries are obviously at a very early stage and we are yet to confirm the circumstances of this person’s death.
“I would like anyone who was in the area this evening who may have seen any suspicious activity to contact police on 101, or to report it anonymously to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.”
