Gryphons Get Going on the Ice

 

LEEDS Gryphons has a new Ice Hockey Club, the first ever at the University of Leeds. LUUIHC is a mixed gender sports club, welcoming those of all abilities! 

The Gryphons are currently leading their BUIHA league with two wins out of two games! Their first ever game was versus Nottingham Mavericks, where a fresh home-team of 18 players took on the league favorites, winning 9-4. The second and final game of 2015, saw us play once more, at home against Sheffield Bears D, winning 23-2!

Leeds Gryphons, now have 8 more games scheduled for the 2015/16 season, for which it is hoped they can continue the winning streak into league play offs, moving towards promotion into Division 1 North Non-Checking league. In addition, there is a National tournament for the British Universities Ice Hockey Association (BUIHA) league at the end of the year.

LUUIHC hold FREE weekly training sessions at Bradford Ice Arena on Saturday’s @ 10:30pm to 12:00am. There is also a GIAG session for 27th January (12:00-1.30pm) for additional players wishing to join in time, for the games held in the second-half of the season!
