Just as we thought things were slowing down post fashion month, the fashion world kicked back with a vengeance. The Balmain x H&M collection has been the talk of the town and we cannot help but want to befriend Olivier Rousteing. The legendary icon Grace Coddington will be celebrated in the cinematic adaptation of her 2012 biography, Grace: A Memoir, Alexa’s future of fashion series with Vogue ended this week, and a shocking exit at Dior with Raf Simons leaving his gleaming pedestal.
High street powerhouse H&M are renowned for their consistently reputable collaborations, and their notorious instant sell-outs. Balmain x H&M is no different to the ingenuity of Alexander Wang, Isabel Marant and Versace to name just a few of H&M’s previous collaborators. The launch was celeb clad with the likes of Diane Kruger, Rosie Huntington Whiteley and Alexa Chung attending the party. The catwalk was alit with the Hadid sisters, Jourdan Dunn Alessandra Ambrosio, Karlie Kloss and Joan Smalls doing what they do best. The collection will launch in around 250 stores worldwide on the 5th of November. Alarms at the ready!
Raf Simons stunned a nation when he made the decision to leave the fashion super house Dior after three-and-a-half momentous years. The SS16 collection presented in a courtyard of the Louvre will be Raf’s last contribution. Simons decision was based on a desire to pursue other areas and interests. The 47 year old described his time at Dior as an ‘immense privilege’. What next for Raf Simons? And who do you think will take on the French house next?
It has been hinted that this may not be the last creative director departure from the array of prestigious fashion houses this season. Watch this space.

After almost 20 years in the industry Matthew Williamson is taking a new approach by departing from the fashion norms. The goal is to reposition the business with the customer’s wants and needs at the forefront. After observing a decrease in footfall at the Bruton Street store, and noticing a movement in favour of online shopping, Williamson is ready to put the sculpted and refined ‘buy now, wear now’ business model into action.
Grace Coddington Memoir on the Big Screen
The papers have been signed and the rights to the famous 2012 biography, Grace: A Memoir have been handed over to A24. No date has been set for the release, so we may be waiting longer than we would like. Coddington remarked that the film industry is ‘very slow compared to the fashion business’, but nonetheless we cannot contain our excitement to see how the 74-year old is portrayed.
Tyra’s Search for the Next Top Model Ends
After a whopping 22 seasons, CW’s most successful reality series has been cancelled. Producing no supermodels, the show whilst popularly watched hasn’t seen to have much success rate for models’ careers. Fatima Siad having modelled for Herve Leger, Hemes and Ralph Lauren is counted as one of the only high achieving models from the series. We’ll miss the walking tips, cringe shoot moments and sassy judging on our TV’s.
Perry Ellis Sued for Alleged Racism and Homophobia
Perry Ellis International is being sued over claims that the company’s president demanded that there are “no blacks in my ads” or “anyone who looked too gay”. The fashion label ironically named after its gay founder, is being sued over the comments made by its president Oscar Feldenkreis. Perry Ellis “categorically denies” all the allegations.
Mario Testino takes to Snapchat
We are a social media savvy generation so why waste the resource? Mario Testino shot images and video footage for Burberry using the app to document their newest campaign this week. The British trendsetters are the first brand to stream and publish their advertising campaigns live through the medium of Snapchat. The industry are slowly narrowing this gap between the customer and the collections; making them accessible at the touch of a button.
The British Fashion Awards Nominations Revealed
The British fashion award nominees have been announced and we will be waiting with baited breath until November the 23rd to find out who has been crowned for their contribution. With Victoria Beckham, Christopher Kane, Tom Ford and Sophia Webster all nominated the competition is fierce!
