The Fashion Week Edit: A Beauty Roundup

As well as a round of fashion trends, the Fashion Weeks also produced a wealth of beauty trends to follow for SS16. This September however we saw both ends of the spectrum; the classic, barefaced minimal to the extreme and colourful. Here is a round up of the shows that took make-up to the different levels.

The dewy complexion and minimalistic make-up provided a surreal glow to the models faces at Thakoon for NYFW. To gain the barefaced look, make-up artist, Diane Kendal used NARS’ Moisturiser for a smooth complexion, as well as the lipgloss for a subtle sheen on the lips.

Pat McGrath also kept the look simple in Milan for Prada but surprised the crowd with barefaced and gold lips. The idea was to capture a futuristic look but with a single statement aspect.

During PFW, Lanvin produced a ‘Ready-To-Wear’ collection that matched a wonderfully simple beauty look. Hints of slight pink eyeshades and a single brush of mascara makes this beauty look the easiest to do.

Pat McGrath managed to make the faces at Gucci look impeccably fresh yet polished to keep the oversized glasses in the foreground. Gentle plum lips finished off a dewy presence to create a chic nerd.

On the complete other side of the beauty-metre at Gareth Pugh Val Garland played tribute to London’s Soho Disco vibe where mesh covers were painted with bright colours and star shaped eye masks to create a clown like appearance. Beauty madness at its best.

Givenchy also took the extreme make up to another level by ignoring it altogether and going for what can only be described as a jewelry mask. You have to give it to legendary make-up artist Pat McGrath for the ‘lace face’ look as well as the elaborate sequinned facial chandelier.

Contrasting a toned down complexion with a striking blue swash across the model’s lids, brow and nose-bridge, Chanel used a pastel shade for a incredibly memorable look. Chanel was showing off their new All Blue Rhythm Collection on the runway and in the process started a new trend for SS16 that may actually be feasible.

Extremely eccentric and undeniably Galliano, makeup at Maison Margiela consisted of metallic eye masks and creatively distinctive and bold patterns to reflect the fashion houses collection.
