Following their successful clash in Newcastle, Battle of the Burger descends on Canal Mills this Friday to test the best that Leeds, and ultimately Yorkshire, has to offer. Gone are the days that a burger is a disappointing disc of overcooked ‘beef’ in a soggy seeded bun, and usually only consumed at 2am; instead, the gourmet burger scene has exploded onto Leeds and become a firm staple in every foodie’s diet. With Central Leeds bursting with brioche buns, it’s only right to bring them head to head and crown a winner once and for all.
Hosted in Canal Mills, no stranger to a food fest with their regular Brandon Street Night Market, entry is free and the rules are simple; all vendors must stick to a £3 price point in creating a mini burger in order to triumph. The Leeds vendors battling it out are Belgrave’s very own Patty’s Smiths, student staples Almost Famous and Get Baked, Black Swan and The Old Yorkshire Pit. Lola Jeans and Fat Hippo, both from Newcastle, complete the line up for what is set to be a fattening weekend to kick off fresher’s week.
Friday 18th September (5pm until Midnight) and Saturday 19th September (Midday until Midnight)
Entry is free all weekend, music curated and provided by One20.
