Preview – Mint Festival

For those going to Mint Festival this year they have a lot to be excited about. As a club which has always prided itself on providing its customers with first class experiences and music, the festival clearly attempts to do the same.

Taking place on the 19th and 20th September in Wetherby, the festival has gone from strength to strength each year, expanding to run for two days, running more stages and artists each year, and now providing camping for those wanting to start the party on the Friday.

In terms of the stages the festival has worked with the best of both local and international parties to provide the soundtrack for the weekend, from Leeds’ own System, Jungle Jam and Circular to Jamie Jones’ Paradise. Barcelona’s Elrow will also be hosting their own stage as part of their four-date tour of the UK this autumn which will be headlined by Eats Everything.

And it is with the music on show which makes this festival one to be enthusiastic about with the broad selection of DJs from a number of genres enough to please almost all dance music enthusiasts. On the Saturday two of Ibiza’s biggest heavyweights, Sven Vath and Luciano each headline a stage with George Fitzgerald, the Martinez Brothers, Green Velvet and Joris Voorn all performing too. Additionally Paris’ Apollonia, one of the world’s best DJ groups at the moment, will also be mixing a wide range of house and techno from their record bags. Sunday provides an equally stellar group of DJs as Perlon boss Zip and Ricardo Villalobos will be closing the System presents Fuse stage, after being warmed up by one the best regarded live shows in underground music, performed by Henrik Schwarz. Jamie Jones’ arena will look to showcase the quality output of his various labels whilst Seth Troxler headlines his own tent with the widely respected Craig Richards playing before he takes to the decks.

For those looking to seek alternatives to house and techno, Late Nite Tuff Guy’s set on the Saturday will undoubtedly see unearthed disco classics alongside more recent edits. On the Sunday Jungle Jam and Detonate’s stage will have the likes of Shy FX and DJ Yoda will also be playing a hip hop set in the Slowdown Sounds and Elements Tent. Yes, there is a lot to be excited about for this year’s Mint Festival.
