Preview – Bestival 2015

Music, Freedom, Peace, Love and Euphoria. These are the muses Bestival is celebrating with its 2015 ‘Summer of Love’ theme. A beautiful homage to its ancestry, Bestival has embraced these qualities ever since its inception in  2004.

Unlike many festivals today, Bestival has deservedly created something quite remarkable. It relishes in its creative and musical offerings, and out of thousands of fancy dresses, artistic projects and solid lineups, a culture has been born. This is a culture encompassing all ages, and sets a strong precedent for other festival organisers to follow. Whether you’ve just started high school, completed your degree, or even signed for your first home, Bestival curates the land for the festival-goer to flourish.

Heading the bill this year includes: The Chemical Brothers, Underworld, Duran Duran, The Jacksons, and Tame Impala. While more nuanced bookings include Tale of Us, Seth Troxler, George The Poet and live performances from Jamie XX and Todd Terje. This line up boasts some of the finest talents in music today, and is sure to neatly tie the bow on a perfect summer of love.

After 2014’s disco spectacular, with CHIC closing the bill on what was arguably one of the greatest disco celebrations planet earth has ever witnessed, 2015 has some pretty big boots to fill. Bestival ’14 even broke a world record with the creation of the world’s biggest disco ball. Top that, rest of the world.

Festival creator Rob Da Bank has pretty spectacular vision on the Bestival to follow:

“Our theme for 2015 is the Summer of Love… it’s a simple theme and hopefully one that’s easy to embrace. It’s largely a positive reaction to all the bad news and downright evil going on in the world. We’re not hiding our heads in the sand and pretending everything’s rosy and laid-back but we can, as a big family of 50,000 people, come together, listen to music, party and spread love, even if it’s just for the weekend. That has always been at the heart of Bestival and its year-round community. Hate out, love in!”
