Man seriously injured after collision with sign on Cardigan Road

A driver has been seriously injured after a collision with a street sign in Headingley.

The 60-year-old man was driving along Cardigan Road at 10:15am on Sunday when he hit the sign.

MetroTravelNews tweeted that Cardigan Road had been closed both ways between the Spring Road junction and the Victoria Road junction as a result of a “serious accident”.

It was also reported that bus routes 56 and 19/19A were diverting away from Cardigan Road.

Further traffic congestion was also predicted after 18:00 following the end of the England test cricket match at the Headingley Carnegie stadium, which finished on Monday 1st June.
