On Saturday, Record Store Day celebrations return to Leeds for the eighth time.
The annual event will be taking place across the city tomorrow, with participating stores offering exclusive releases from a variety of artists. A selection of unreleased tracks, demos, re-releases and remixes will be on sale, including several from Bruce Springsteen, David Bowie, Pulp and The 1975.
Jumbo Records, in St Johns Centre, are celebrating the day with live performances from Mik Artistik, Polar Bear, Marsicans and CryBabyCry as well as a signing from the legendary George Clinton. These will take place on the hour from midday, however the store will be open from 8:30am. Other activities include a raffle with prizes from local venues and festivals, a giveaway from FUTURESOUND, as well as the release of fanzine created by the store.
Norman Records are providing customers with celebratory cake and coffee, including their own blend made especially for Record Store Day. The staff are using the day as an opportunity to meet and interact with their customers. The store can be found on Croydon Street and will be opening at the earlier time of 8am.
Crash Records, located on The Headrow, have teamed up with Live At Leeds for a giveaway – the first 250 customers from 8:30am will receive a tote bag filled with freebies. One of these will contain a golden ticket to the festival, providing the winner with access to any of their gigs and the guest bar on Saturday 2nd May.
All Record Store Day events are free to attend and the exclusive releases are sold on a first come first served basis. Any leftover stock will be sold online from 25th April.
