Law student sets up charity page to fund degree

Leeds international student Chiyenum Analogbei also known as ‘Chi Chi’ has set up a gofundme.com page to raise money to fund her Law degree at the University.

Chiyenum’s father, who was the sole breadwinner for her family and who funded her studies, passed away earlier this year from male breast cancer. Her family have been facing financial difficulties since.

Miss Analogbei had completed 2 years of study before taking a year out to travel home to Nigeria to be with her father. In a statement to the Gryphon she said, ‘I never saw him when I came back, I saw him for the last time when I boarded my flight to England in 2011’.

With only one year remaining on her course, Chiyenum needs a total of £10,500 to complete her degree. Over £1,500 has already been donated to the page since it was first set up on the 21st March.

The page has received support on social media from a number of LUU societies. Chiyenum has thanked donors in a statement on the page, ‘I want to say a big thank you to all who have donated so far. I am really grateful for all your contributions. Please keep sharing the link’.

The largest single donation has been a generous £100. The majority of donors have remained anonymous.

If you wish to help Chiyenum complete her degree, you can donate here.
