Traveller’s Eye: India

This collection of images embodies my time spent in India. By completing the Golden Triangle in Northern India, which took me to Delhi, Agra and Jaipur, and documenting every interesting person that I passed, the images came together to capture perfectly the beautiful, intriguing and fascinating diversity of humans in India.

CHILD

Children, ye have not lived, ye but exist Till some resistless hour shall rise and move Your hearts to wake and hunger after love, And thirst with passionate longing for the things That burn your brows with blood-red sufferings. (Sarojini Naidu)

MEN WHO WORK

DSC_0320
Time is endless in thy hands, my lord. There is none to count thy minutes. Days and nights pass and ages bloom and fade like flowers. Thou knowest how to wait.

DSC_0371
Thy centuries follow each other perfecting a small wild flower.

We have no time to lose, and having no time we must scramble for a chance. We are too poor to be late. And thus it is that time goes by while I give it to every querulous man who claims it, and thine altar is empty of all offerings to the last.

At the end of the day I hasten in fear lest thy gate be shut; but I find that yet there is time. (Rabindranath Tagore)

LADIES WHO LUNCH

DSC_0201
When love arrives on your doorstep, it will not leave soon.

DSC_0238
It has to go to some mountain or valley. To an ocean or river. It comes to your house out of the blue, and wants to know if you will come along to drown with it or not.

PEOPLE WHO WAIT

DSC_0096
Rain falling, day after day, as if trying to clean off our permanent stains, but all it does is discolour this well-worn shirt, and wash the memory of all the passing seasons from the walls.

DSC_0107
This is not summer nor autumn nor winter: sometimes I recognize myself, then forget.

DSC_0709
Maybe after so much rain all colour will be washed out and my shirt then be the colour of water. (Mohan Rana)
