Get in line for Stage Musical Society’s A Chorus Line

The tremendously talented Stage Musical Society prepare to mesmerise us once again, with their magnificent new production: ‘A Chorus Line’. In connection with Back Stage society, this latest spectacle will take over the stage in the Riley Smith hall on the 10th-14th of March. Doors open from 7pm, with the show starting at 7.30pm.

Set in 1970s New York and based on the lives of real Broadway dancers, ‘A Chorus Line’ gives us a rare glance at what happens behind the scenes. The musical opens on the audition process of a group of eager dancers, all competing to get a place on the ‘chorus line’ of a Broadway musical. But it’s never all about the jazz hands. After the first cut, the director insists that he needs to know more about his potential cast, and so the story soon transcends into the dark and fascinating back story of each character, from childhood to the present day.

Described by director Sophie Roberts as “Broadway with a dark side”, this is one you won’t want to miss. Musical Directors Harry Style and Ashley Jacobs say that “there’s something for everyone” in this unique and wonderful blend of dark humour, love and scandal. With a cast of 38, including an incredible 19 leads, the show promises to be one of “variety and versatility”.

Tickets are going fast and can be purchased either from the Union Foyer or the Leeds Tickets website. Prices vary with £6.50 concessions, £8 for adults and £12 for VIP tickets (which includes priority seating, a programme and a drink at the interval). Group discounts are also available. With show stopping tunes such as ‘One’ and ‘Tits and Ass’, this is ‘One Thrilling Combination’ you won’t want to miss.
