The Libertines have been announced as the final headliners for Reading and Leeds festival.
Announced by Zane Lowe on Radio 1 this evening, the noughties indie legends have only announced one other UK festival appearance at July’s T in the Park.
In an exclusive video message Pete Doherty said “I’ve just woken up and I can’t stop thinking about playing at Reading and Leeds”.
The band reunited last year the band reformed for the first time in 4 years to play a show in London’s Hyde Park, announcing shortly after that their commitment to a new record deal with Virgin Records.
Bassist John Hassel reveals the Reading and Leeds audiences will be treated to some of their new music saying “There is a great vibe in the band and we should be doing some new songs too”.
The London rockers will join Mumford and Sons and Metallica as headliners.
Also announced were All Time Low, Bring Me the Horizon, Kendrick Lamar, The Maccabees, Knife Party, Limp Bizkit, Tyler The Creator, Swim Deep, Everything Everything, Jamie XX, Boy Better Know, Camo & Krooked, Hudson Mohawke, New Found Glory, Mastadon, Cancer Bats, Django Django, The Wombats, Frank Turner, Ash, A$AP Ferg, Flatbush Zombies, Azaelia Banks, Lethal Bizzle and Stormzy.
The festival takes place 28th-30th August, at Richfield Avenue in Reading and Bramham Park in Leeds.
