AN all-female production of Steven Berkoff’s adaptation of Kafka’s classic Metamorphosis opens at Leeds University’s campus theatre Stage@Leeds next week.
Open Theatre’s innovative and thought-provoking new production promises to be an exciting and bold piece of theatre, opening on Thursday, February 19th until Friday 20th in the large Stage One space. 
This first OT production of the semester looks set to make a profound visual impact with its use of a thrust stage, original physical theatre, a gritty council estate setting and a powerful all female cast.
A highly visual production with standout artistic decisions including imaginative set design and eye-catching costumes to give this classic play a new lease of life.
Third year Theatre and Performance student Edie Marsh says she has no qualms about taking on the challenging and usually male lead role of Gregor, the man who wakes up one day to find he has morphed into a gigantic beetle:
“I jumped at the chance as I really wanted to bring a female perspective to this iconic role. Audiences should look out for a beetle with attitude.”
A highly physical production with specific choreography, this bold and exciting version of a familiar tale, explores the story of Gregor’s struggle to come to terms with his condition through movement as well as words.
Zosh Skowronska, the play’s Co-Director and President of Open Theatre Society has been promoting a varied programme of original drama both hard-hitting and hilarious since she took on the role last September.
