LUUMS Charity Concert Preview @ Leeds Town Hall 15/2/2015

Leeds University Unions Music Society (LUUMS) will pack out the majestic town hall on 15th February for their annual charity concert. This year’s proceeds will be donated to award-winning local charity Lost Chord, a South Yorkshire based charity helping to improve the quality of life of those suffering with dementia through the use of music.

The concert, which commences at 3pm, will showcase the finest classical and contemporary musicians of LUUMS’ various orchestras, choirs and ensembles alongside the nimblest of dancers to complete the spectacle. LUUMS is one of the biggest societies of LUU, spanning back 80 years and attracting a plethora of talented musicians to study at Leeds. 2015’s concert is themed around the music of the stage and screen, and will include an eclectic range of movie classics alongside West End showstoppers. No matter what your guilty (or non-guilty) pleasure is, from Les Misérables’ One Day More to unmentionable ear-worms of recent years about letting things go, there’s bound to be something to get you dancing down the aisles in a mid-afternoon treat. LUUMS have kept their cards very close to their chest with what we can expect; the only promise so far is that there’ll be something for every taste, although I doubt this applies to those whose idea of the stage is karaoke night at The Royal Park Pub.

The annual event continues to cement its place as not only a highlight in the university calendar, but also continues to become a favourite with the people of Leeds. The event is likely to sell out, so pick up your tickets as soon as possible from the Union helpdesk, starting at £8.
