Trend Alert: Duster coat

The Duster Coat is sleek, sophisticated and is one of 2015s biggest trends. The Duster Coat originates from the mid-20th century and was initially a loose summer coat with wide sleeves and without buttons. Now of course, warm yet lightweight fabrics can be used to make this a winter coat too. The long length of the coat protected fine clothes from dirt road dust from horses and motor cars, and now from hoping on and off public transport.

Alternatively to a Spring/Summer blazer, the duster coat offers more protection from rain showers and is a lot more casual. Gorgeous with flat ballet pumps or heels, this coat can easily transfer from day to evening. Look to Spring now with pastel tones and olive green.

Take inspiration from Jason Wu, Victoria Beckham and Phillip Lim, where sleeveless duster coats create great layering looks. Alternatively, Warehouse, F&F and Topshop have affordable and classic styles which you may be able to grab for a bargain price in the January sales!
