Police are appealing for information after a man was seriously injured in a shooting in Burley on Christmas Eve.
The 25-year-old man was left with serious abdominal injuries consistent with gunshot wounds in what police are calling a ‘targeted attack’ on Thornville Road on Wednesday.
Officers are now trying to trace a dark or black-coloured hatchback car believed to be connected to the shooting.
In a statement, Detective Chief Inspector Mark McManus said, ‘An area on Thornville Road, close to the junction with Alexandra Road in Burley, Leeds was identified as a crime scene and sealed off while forensic officers conducted a search of the area.
‘We know that two vehicles met at this location, near to the petrol station. Officers have recovered a white coloured Audi vehicle, but we are still keen to trace a dark or black coloured hatch-back car which we believe is connected to those involved in the shooting. The incident continues to be treated as a targeted attack.’
The man is now in a stable condition after receiving surgery.
Police are urging anyone with information to call 101, quoting the log number 827 from the 24th December.
