Winter is coming. But, as the nights draw in, Flux are teaming up with Secretsundaze to shed some light on Leeds and usher in the festive season. And not just with their customary smoking area bonfire.
Secretsundaze will bring the essence of their notorious daytime Sunday parties in London to Beaver Works with sets from the label’s co-founders Giles Smith and James Priestly. They have been the purveyors of some of the finest underground electronic music since 2002, releasing tracks by the likes of Youandewan and Bleak, as well as three of the most critically acclaimed compilation CDs of recent years.
The Red Room will be inhabited by another of London’s hottest nights, Tief, whose recent upsurge in popularity has secured them a regular slot on Rinse FM. James Hessletime will feature among a host of fresh Djing talent that focusses on the deeper elements of house and techno.
From across the pond comes legendary Chicago selector Tevo Howard who’ll display his immense musical talent by playing what should be a spectacular live set of quintessential techno, while young German Damiano von Eckhert will play the Warehouse. He is responsible for the first real prominent house and techno collective in Cologne. On Friday, expect to hear a set not bound by generic conventions, but with classic disco and funk at its heart.
As usual, local lads Stephen Howe and Will Eastlake will prop up the bar with a similarly disco inspired sound.
Look no further if you want a large night out before we part ways in preparation for the arrival of Kris Kringle. If you’re sick of hearing Wham and Mariah Carey by now, maybe Flux will act as a remedy.
