LRFS Launch Party

fashion show launch

Who said students can’t be glamorous and sophisticated? This was certainly the theme of Leeds RAG’s Fashion Show launch party at the Belgrave Music Hall on Tuesday night.

The LRFS is one of the biggest events on the uni calendar and what better way to let off some steam than with a fabulous party!

After weeks of hard work; auditioning models, acquiring sponsors, working with promotions and planning it’s safe to say the thirty committee members and eighty models needed a reward for their hard work. Fortunately, they invited everyone along to join and the venue was packed. It seemed everyone wanted to rub shoulders with Leeds University’s current fashion royalty.

The Belgrave was the perfect venue for the event; intimate and sophisticated, yet still feeling relaxed and in keeping with the Leeds students laid back attitude. We entered a room to unwind with comfortable sofas and popcorn – or proper corn – which gave way to the dance floor where we danced the night away. The music was brought to us by Flux, a mix of disco and house with a little bit of hip hop, which made it hard to tear ourselves away from the dance floor.

The tone of the evening was certainly set off by the style as the boys came out in smart casual, rocking bomber jackets and shirts in wild patterns. The girls rocked maxi skirts, jumpsuits and fur – forget bare legs in this weather – class is the new cool. So, did we receive any hints to the theme of this years show? Playing cards adorned the entrances but the directors certainly weren’t giving anything away…

If you missed the party you’ll have to wait until next year to get a glimpse of the gorgeous faces that will be walking down the catwalk – the show itself will certainly be one that can’t be missed.
