Hollywood movie filmed on campus

Film crews arrived in Leeds earlier this week to shoot scenes at a number of locations around campus for the upcoming Hollywood production of Hunter’s Prayer.

The adaptation of  Kevin Wignall’s 2004 novel For the Dogs, which will star Avatar’s Sam Worthington, tells the story of an assassin who helps a  young student avenge the death of her family.

Locations on campus including the Great Hall and Devonshire Hall will feature in the film, which is expected to be released  next summer, with the Great Hall being used as the location of a Swiss police station, whilst university accommodation  Devonshire Hall will play the part of a  Swiss boarding school.

Director John Mostow, best know for directing Terminator 3,  has revealed that filming will now continue in other areas of Yorkshire including Harrogate and Scarborough before moving on to Switzerland, Germany and New York.

Harriet Boatwright from the MeetinLeeds team said, ‘The University, although not explicitly mentioned in the film, will now well and truly be placed on the world stage!’

Hunter’s Prayer is expected to be released in June 2015.
