On Wednesday 3rd December Mavrik return to Wire, bringing with them one of New York’s finest selectors, Tim Sweeney. After a string of successful parties with the likes of Miles Simpson, Ben Sun and Simian Mobile Disco, Mavrik are flying in the Beats in Space label head and radio presenter for a special extended set in what is arguably the best small venue in the North.
Tim has been running the iconic Beats In Space weekly radio show on New York’s WNYU for the past 15 years, hosting some of the biggest DJ’s in electronic music. In recent months he’s brought the likes of KiNK, Jackmaster, Gerd Janson and Mister Saturday Night to the airwaves and unbelievably he has never missed a single show since its inception in 1999. Sweeney has also been responsible for breaking artists such as Lauer, Matt Karmil and Paradis through his label, Beats in Space Records.
Currently Tim is celebrating 15 years of Beats in Space with the release of a two-disk mix compilation and world tour. In recent months the Beats In Space celebrations have taken him across the globe with bookings in Mexico, Brazil, Tokyo, London and Berlin’s infamous Berghain, so we are more than lucky to get this rare chance to catch Sweeney in the intimate confines of Wire.
Sweeney’s diverse musical tastes stretch from indie-electronica through to disco and techno, with his performances reflecting his penchant for undiscovered gems and party tracks. Expect Mr. Sweeney to play a wide variety of music, digging deep in his record bag to whet the appetite of even the most discerning Leeds partygoer.
Support comes from the Mavrik residents and tickets start from £6+BF.
