It’s deadline time, and that unfortunately means that few of us have time to bake. Luckily, this no-bake malteser tiffin won’t put a dent in your purse or your prospects. So put down that pen for a little while and enjoy our recipe of the week.
Ingredients
For the topping
- 200g milk chocolate
- 25g unsalted butter
- 1 heaped tsp golden syrup
For the base
- 200g milk chocolate
- 100g unsalted butter (margarine can’t be used here)
- 2 heaped tbsp golden syrup
- 125g rich tea biscuits
- 135g bag of maltesers
Method
- Line a large square or rectangular baking tin with baking parchment or foil.
- Place the 200g of chocolate, butter and syrup in a heat-proof bowl and melt over a pan of barely simmering water or in the microwave. Allow to cool a little.
- Place the biscuits and a handful of the maltesers in a freezer bag, seal and crush with a rolling pin. You want mainly crumbs but a few small chunks of biscuit is fine.
- Top the crushed mixture and whole maltesers to the melted chocolate and stir until everything is coated. Press into the prepared tin and make the topping. For the topping, melt the chocolate, butter and syrup as before and spread over the biscuit base.
