‘Pick-up artist’ Julien Blanc denied entry to UK

The self-styled US ‘pick-up coach’ Julien Blanc has been prevented from entering the UK after the Home Office announced they have denied his visa application.

Mr Blanc, who describes himself as a ‘dating guru’, was due to start his UK tour in February of next year. However, it was revealed today that  the Home Office are to intervene after an online petition was signed by more than 136,000 protesters.

The self-titled ‘most hated man in the world’ runs a company which in recent months has been holding £1,200-a-head ‘pick-up’ seminars, which he claims improve men’s seduction techniques.

However, critics argue that Blanc’s methods, which reportedly include threatening to commit suicide and stopping women from seeing their friends, are abusive and controlling. UK Ministers and police have gone a step further by suggesting that methods promoted through Blanc’s online videos may have contributed to a recent increase in sexual violence and harassment cases in the UK.

Liberal Democrat Home Office Minister Lynne Featherstone said, ‘Julien Blanc’s presence in the UK could have led to an increase in sexual violence and harassment. I am delighted that Mr Blanc won’t be coming to our shores.’

The news comes just one week after ITV presenter, Daniel O’Reilly was forced to cancel his ‘Dapper Laughs’ UK tour following a huge public outcry in which he was accused of extreme sexism and trivialising rape.
