Two arrested in Union sexual assault

Two men have been arrested in relation to a sexual assault attack in the university area.

The twenty and twenty-two year old males were taken to the police station last night in light of the event, which took place a fortnight ago.

The victim, who is a student, was targeted after a night-out in LUU.

According to a source, the suspects handed themselves in.

Police released CCTV images of two men they want to trace in connection with the incident, which took place in a house in the local area.

The 19-year-old woman had met the men in the Union after becoming separated from friends in the early hours of Saturday 15 Novemeber . The three went to a nearby house, where she was subjected to a serious sexual assault.

Detective Constable Tony Thewlis of Leeds District CID, said, ‘We urgently need to identify these men and I would urge anyone who recognises them to contact us immediately’.

A Union spokesperson said they hoped someone would recognise one of the man from his distinctive t-shirt printed with the words ‘Brooklyn’.
