A University of Leeds student has been found dead in her home in Bradford.

19-year-old Biochemistry student Trisha Lad and her family were discovered at their home in Clayton on Monday evening.

In a statement released today, West Yorkshire Police said:  “Early indications suggest the bodies may have been in the property for some time. Post-mortems will now be carried out to establish the cause of the deaths. ”

Jitendra, 49, Daksha, 44, and Trisha’s sister Nisha, 17, were also found at the property.

Det Supt Simon Atkinson, from West Yorkshire police’s protective services crime unit, added: The investigation is at an early stage, and while I do not want to speculate around the circumstances leading to the deaths, I am happy to confirm that we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident.”

It is understood that both parents worked for Bradford City Council, while youngest daughter Nisha had just completed her GCSEs.

Trisha Lad had just started her second year of her course, and was an active member of LUU’s Mind Matters society.

A spokesperson from the University of Leeds said: “This is dreadful and shocking news and our thoughts are with Trisha’s friends and loved ones. Staff are working with the University’s counselling and chaplaincy services to help students who are affected by this tragedy and we will do all we can to support them.”

The Lad’s friends and family have been seen laying flower’s at the house.
