Leeds sack manager Milanic after a mere 32 days in charge

Leeds United have sacked their second manager of the season following a winless run of six matches.

Their notoriously hard to please owner, Massimo Cellino, who is known in his home country of Italy as the ‘Manager Eater’, pulled the trigger on Darko Milanic just hours after United’s 2-1 home defeat to Wolves on Saturday.

United currently find themselves in 18th place in the Championship, having only taken three points from six games during Milanic’s 32 day tenure. Owner Cellino broke the news via the club’s official twitter page, saying: “I want to apologise to the supporters, they deserve better results.”

Once again, Neil Redfearn is to be put in temporary charge. The academy coach, who also sat in the Leeds hot-seat earlier this season following Dave Hockaday’s dismissal, will take charge of training on Monday and is expected to be offered the role on a permanent basis.

Redfearn, 49, was considered for the role before Milanic’s appointment last month. The fans favourite, who played in the top flight for Bradford, Barnsley and Charlton, has never held a permanent managerial position at a Football League club, but has taken charge of the club in four temporary spells since 2012.
