At University, sturdy bags are an essential part of your everyday wardrobe whether you are lugging around philosophy textbooks in a leather tote or sketchbooks in a straining canvas bag. As much as we would love to carry around our most fashionable accessories, more often than not the thin straps or open clasp tops get the better of us and aren’t practical for the weight and distance we need bags need to go. This is why the backpack has become a firm favourite amongst students in attending to their daily university needs.

If we really wanted to we could splash our student loan on the recent 3.1 Philip Lim Pashli Backpack; smart, functional and effortlessly stylish made from embossed leather; a perfect bag to wear on top of those heavy winter coats. Past seasons have seen throwback designs that evolved from nostalgic 90’s designs in tartan and canvas to sleek and modern leather and printed styles with ASOS and Monki offering both the transformed backpack and the 90’s styles in tie dyes and classic constructions. The 90’s nostalgic styles are a high street favourite; the simple constructions provide a wide platform of variations from tie dye and denim to sturdy black leather and even paisley printed cotton small rucksacks seen across festivals this summer.

As opposed to bags such as satchels and totes, backpacks don’t dominate outfits and styles as much. If your style is simple and classic Monki and Pretabello’s leather rucksack styles are perfect in complimenting your daily outfits. If you have more of a print and vintage based wardrobe, the Acid House style traditionally constructed backpacks are perfect with long overcoats in winter or pretty vintage style dresses in summer. The backpack has been embraced by the British High Street and it looks like the student population has too, whatever you do this Autumn make sure you get  your hands on one of these bags to keep all of your university and day to day belongings safe and stylish (there are a few just to lust over also).
