Music | Festival Preview – High Definition

On July 5, Tunbridge Wells’ High Definition Festival returns for its fourth year, with a lineup set to take the festival above and beyond the success of last year’s sold out event.

The six-stage collection covers an impressive variety of genres, with highlights including legend of rhythm Carl Cox, as well as a six-hour set from Bronx duo The Martinez Brothers. Having earned himself a reputation as a man for the big occasions, BBC Radio 1 resident and Leeds favourite George Fitzgerald will also bring his distinctive tech-house to Eridge Park, another in a long list of DJs who will be looking to bring an element of Ibiza to not-quite-so-sunny Kent.

Even amongst such a strong list, the pick of the bunch could well be found on the AUS Music stage, which the London based label are using to show off a variety of their biggest artists including Dusky, Bicep and Leeds alumni Midland, all the while saving room for a slot from head honcho Will Saul and special guest Joy Orbison.

Special mention should also go to Ms Dynamite, whose recent tour included sell-outs as far reaching as Shanghai, and her appearance at Digital Arena stage should set the tone perfectly for a mad Oneman party set. Even 12 years after the release of Mercury winning debut LP A Little Deeper, Ms D remains one of the leading ladies in British garage, and her energetic and beat happy set will be filled with the hits that crafted such an impressive reputation.

With many of the bill well practiced on the Leeds circuit, there should be no surprises as to the quality on offer, and High Definition is certainly a not-to-miss fixture in the calendars of any house-heads who’ve found themselves back down south for the summer.
