Expertly wedged between the Easter holidays and the beginning of exam period, the Flux Good Life Garden party gave many students the opportunity to have one final big night before locking themselves away in the library. Two of Leeds’ favourite club nights teamed up last Friday to offer a day and evening of fun in the sun, ranging from food stalls to a long list of DJs ready to entertain from 6pm to 6am. The theme ‘Summer of Love’ was announced a few days earlier, a good choice for such a relaxed, fun night.

I have much respect for those who made the valiant attempt to get the most out of their ticket and stick out the whole twelve hours. If you did arrive early to start this pleasant marathon of an evening, you could sample some of the variety of food ‘Viva Cuba’ had to offer. Apparently it did not disappoint.

Nevertheless, the majority of partygoers arrived later in the evening, eager to see what Beaverworks had to offer to make this night a little different from the others. The outside DJ tent was a definitely a welcomed surprise and ‘Cherokee’s’ upbeat set got everyone energised for the evening to come. The tent was also appreciated it when it became a slightly warmer and more comfortable area to relax after the music ended at 11:00.

The basement room unfortunately left something to be desired this time around, it was potentially a little too dark and repetitive. The main room was probably the most enjoyable musically, highlights being XXXY and the Brotherhood DJs finishing the evening off with a bang.

I’m sure the format is something that we will see repeated for many years to come.  It would be nice to see some more interesting names headlining next time around, but the evening was certainly a fun experience to spend with friends.
