The Mecca for all females, Topshop has once again proved why it is our High Street Deity with the launch of the much anticipated latest collection by Kate Moss. The ultimate style icon, Kate strikes again, combining her innate sense of style with some of the key pieces from her past collections. The collection encompasses Kate’s multi-faceted personality; a religious festival goer, rock star’s wife and polished supermodel to name a few, making just the sheer variety of the collection something to marvel at. The pieces range from simplistic camis, haute-décor paisley separates to androgynously slick tuxedos. However, it is the fabric of each garment which polishes the collection to perfection. No expense has been spared in creating a luxe aesthetic with quality satins, feather weight silks and liquid lamés exuding effortless sophistication.

So diverse in nature, Kate has divided the line into four individual capsule collections. There is something for all occasions and for everyone. For high-octane glamour, turn to ‘Tailoring Noir’- essentially an ode to the hedonistic 1920s. A tasselled gown that even Zelda Fitzgerald herself would have lusted after takes centre stage in this evening wear line. Tailoring is taken to new heights; the Le Smoking jacket undergoes a Moss Makeover with the addition glitterati embellishments without sacrificing the power that emanates from a fierce trouser suit. The ‘Cocktail Hour’ collection is a modern day renaissance for 1940s Paris. Form fitting LBDs are updated with metallic stars, feathers and pretty chiffons. Accessorize with an up-do, a martini and a dance floor.

Never one to shy away from the latest trends, the pyjama styles that have taken the industry by storm this season appear in Kate’s collection. ‘Pyjama Dressing’ fuses origami-folding with Chinatown prints in an Eastern blend of lightweight kimonos, wide leg palazzo trousers and layers of billowing material. Look out for the throw-on overcoat; simply add a ditzy print skirt for spring days or up the ante on a night out by wearing it over waxed skinnies and a sequinned camisole. Smock dresses, suede shorts and lace edging appear in ‘Balearic Dressing,’ an easy going collection that embraces summer time romance and sunny weather. Aztec-inspired hexagons embroider white cotton dresses and of course Kate manages to slip leather into the collection with a gypsy style fringed jacket. Wear the smock dress with leather boots or suede moccasins for a bohemian Tiger-Lily, festival look…Live at Leeds anyone?

Just to instigate some pre-emptive thinking: The Leeds Summer ball is appearing on the horizon, a shimmering beacon indicating the end of exams, dissertations and more importantly, the start of summer. Kate Moss has designed a dress so beautiful we simply had to mention it, despite the unfriendly price tag. Blending Grecian details with a Mermaid-esque design, turn up as the belle of the ball in the bias cut lamé maxi dress. Just add tousled locks, smoky eyes and an airbrushed tan.
